About Accelerating Cancer Cures
Accelerating Cancer Cures addresses the critical shortage of new clinical researchers working on breakthroughs in cancer treatments and cures. Under the leadership of the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation and with the support of industry and academia, this project will foster the talent desperately needed to accelerate breakthroughs in cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Accelerating Cancer Cures is supported by some of the world’s leading companies including: Eli Lilly and Company, Celgene, Merck, Millennium: The Takeda Oncology Company, Pfizer, and The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA). About the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation
To accelerate breakthroughs, the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation provides today’s best young scientists with funding to pursue innovative research. Eleven scientists supported by the Foundation have received the Nobel Prize, seven have received National Medals of Science, and 61 have been elected to the National Academy of Sciences. Damon Runyon is currently funding more than 100 scientists at leading medical centers and research institutions.
Since its founding in 1946, Damon Runyon has invested more than $245 million and funded more than 3,300 young scientists. This year, it will commit approximately $12 million in new awards to brilliant young investigators. 100% of all donations to the Foundation are used to support cutting-edge scientific research.
