Our Theater Benefits offer the chance to attend a dinner at a premier New York restaurant, followed by tickets to a successful or highly anticipated Broadway show. Guests also have the opportunity to hear first-hand from the scientists themselves about the impact of Damon Runyon funding.
Spring Theater Benefit: Catch Me If You Can
Our Spring Theater Benefit featuring a special preview performance of the new Broadway musical Catch Me If You Can, an adaptation of Steven Spielberg’s hit movie, was held on March 29, 2011. The evening began with dinner at Insieme, where friends of the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation also met three of our young scientists who explained their current research projects and personally thanked supporters.Catch Me If You Can is currently playing on Broadway.
Fall Theater Benefit: Driving Miss Daisy
On October 13, 2010, friends of the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation enjoyed a preview performance of Driving Miss Daisy, Alfred Uhry’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play starring legendary actors James Earl Jones and Vanessa Redgrave. The evening began with dinner at Ça Va, world-renowned chef Todd English's newest restaurant in the heart of the Theater District. Guests had the opportunity to meet four of our brilliant young scientists and heard firsthand about the innovative research they are helping to fund.
