To accelerate breakthroughs, the Damon Runyon Foundation provides today's best young scientists with funds to pursue innovative cancer research.

Benjamin R. Myers, PhD
Dr. Myers is studying the function of the Hedgehog signaling pathway, in particular, how inappropriate activation of this pathway can lead to the initiation and growth of tumors. Insights into Hedgehog signaling may allow for the development of more potent and specific forms of cancer therapy.
Project Title: "Analyzing the mechanism of hedgehog signaling regulation by the patched protein"
Institution: Stanford University
Sponsor(s) / Mentor(s): Philip A. Beachy, PhD
Cancer Type: Bladder, Brain, Neuro-oncology, Esophageal, Prostate, Skin
Research Area: Signal Transduction
