Damon Runyon identifies today’s most brilliant early career scientists and funds their innovative cancer research.

Laura A. Banaszynski, PhD
Dr. Banaszynski [Angelo Family Fellow] is studying how proteins called histone variants contribute to patterns of gene expression and cellular identity. This work will allow insights into many types of cancer, as misregulation of gene expression is a fundamental step in tumor initiation and progression.
Project Title: "Investigating the epigenetic nature of histone modifications"
Institution: The Rockefeller University
Sponsor(s) / Mentor(s): C. David Allis, PhD
Cancer Type: All cancers
Research Area: Chromatin Biology
