Madhav Dhodapkar, MD (Damon Runyon-Lilly Clinical Investigator '02-'07) reported a new twist on the biology of multiple myeloma, an incurable cancer of the bone marrow. Dr. Dhodapkar and his research group found that specialized immune cells called dendritic cells enhance the growth of multiple myeloma cells. This discovery reveals a new target for multiple myeloma therapy.
