 Sridhar Mani, MD (Damon Runyon-Lilly Clinical Investigator '02-'07) reported on a novel approach to improve and/or restore cancer cell sensitivity to chemotherapy in a publication in Oncogene. Dr. Mani shows that the anti-fungal drug, ketoconazole blocks the expression of multi-drug resistance genes involved in metabolism of many chemotherapies. These results demonstrate a novel strategy to improve chemotherapy action.
