The Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation today announced that Robert Thompson has joined its team as Chief Philanthropy Officer. Robert will work closely with the Foundation’s leadership and the Board of Directors to achieve the mission of Damon Runyon to find new ways to prevent and cure all forms of cancer and help the organization resource its ambitions.

“We are thrilled bring Robert on board, given his wealth of fundraising expertise and experience,” said Lorraine Egan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Damon Runyon. “Robert has a proven track record of success at leading academic and nonprofit organizations including the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, UNICEF, and Save the Children.”

“I am thrilled to be joining the leadership team at Damon Runyon,” said Robert. “This organization stands out for its long record of funding the top young researchers in the country and I am grateful that the President and CEO has given me this opportunity to lead their fundraising efforts to new heights.”

Robert is originally from North Carolina and graduated from Wake Forest University. He has worked in the New York area for many years and lives in Summit, New Jersey with his family.
