Damon Runyon News

March 16, 2020

From all of us at the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation, we sincerely hope that you are safe and healthy. We are aware that everyone is affected by COVID-19/novel coronavirus, from our scientists to our donors. To our scientists, whose institutions may have taken precautions that restrict your time in the lab, please know that we support you and know how difficult it is to be away from your lab and colleagues. We hope you will be able to use this time to write up your results for your next paper or grant application, and to brainstorm your next experiments. To our physician-scientists, we extend an additional thank you for your continued dedication to providing the best care for your patients. To our donors, please know that our scientists continue to focus their efforts on making the next breakthroughs in cancer research.

In response to the rapidly developing situation, we have postponed several scheduled events and made remote working arrangements to ensure the safety of our donors, scientists and staff. Our upcoming award selection meetings will now be held by teleconference, so there will be no interruption to our ability to fund promising new projects in cancer research.

We suggest that you take recommended measures to protect yourself and your community. Please follow social distancing guidelines and stay home whenever possible to help flatten the curve of this pandemic and lessen its impact on healthcare workers and at-risk individuals. Check with your local health officials or the CDC for the most up-to-date recommendations.
